Q: BeefcakeandBabes Asks: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across?

That's tricky, I love a lot of character names and I often enjoy the more simple ones. My favorite unique one was Oriana from Oriana's Eyes. The name just stuck with me!

  3. Oriana is beautiful!!! I can see how it can get stuck in your head. None really stuck out for me except for Black Dagger Brotherhood and Dark Hunter series (both adult). Nothing YA is really sticking right out now, except maybe Aislinn but she just annoys me :)

  4. Is it a play on the constellation Orion?
What about Renesmee and the characters like Meriadoc Brandybuck or Peregrin Took from LOTR?

  8. I agree--sometimes a simple name works for that character (not necessarily because the character is simple or anything). It just works. I am thinking Anna from Anna and the French Kiss. I don't know that Oriana and the French Kiss would have worked as well for me. :)

  17. Ooh, I haven't read it but Oriana is a good name. I can already conjure up a character and I haven't a clue what the book is about >.< I love the unique names in books because they do stick with you. I know if I write a book I hope that my characters will be able to do that.

  19. As usual, I am still playing catch up on Saturday. Friday was only enough time to do the twitter and FB follow, and set up the linky on my blog. Sigh! I'm so slow.

Oriana puts me in mind of the constellation Orian who is the great hunter. I wonder if Oriana had any huntress qualities like Dianna of Mythology. I finally chose a good name from my reading, but you'll have to visit me to find out what it is. http://steepedinbooks.blogspot.com I'm a new follower, just dropping by to say Happy Friday (and Saturday) follow.
