High fantasy isn't my thing either. Sometimes when a book is 'too out there' I just can't get through it. Like you said though, there are always exceptions =)

Hopping through. I've only recently gotten into high fantasy. They can feel very foreign if they're not done well.

Historial YA seems to be iffy but ok for me (Libba Bray being the exception, love hers!), but if it's adult historical I can almost NEVER get into it.
