Small Review is running a new meme that will run December 3rd through December 31st.
Starting out as a new YA book blogger is a ton of fun. You meet a bunch of new people who all share in your passion for YA books, you become a part of a friendly community, and you're continually exposed to wonderful new books.
But sometimes things can be a little discouraging when you're just starting out. You look at your blog and then look at some of the awesome established bloggers out there and wonder if you'll ever make the grade.
So here's to Busting the Newbie Blues! Don't be discouraged. Instead, take action! Participate in my Busting the Newbie Blues event, which will run from December 3rd through December 31st.
This event is designed to:
- Put new YA book bloggers on the map
- Increase blogger interaction
- Start a discussion by sharing our experiences as a new bloggers
- Learn about what it was like for all those impressive established bloggers when they were newbies
1. When did you start your blog?
I started my blog this September, but I really got the ball rolling in October.
2. Why did you start your blog?
I started my blog to get my book opinion out there for others to read, plus my firends got tired of me ranting about books to them.
3. What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
The biggest challenge has been getting myself out there so I can be heard by others.
4. What do you find most encouraging?
The fact that I know people are reading my reviews and when people give positive reviews it just warms my heart.
5.What do you like best about the blogs you read? Have you tried to replicate this in your blog?
I like about other blogs have great and quality reviews and a cool layout. I try and do the same thing and judging my feedback, it's working.
6. What do you dislike about blogs you’ve read? Do you try to avoid this?
I dislike a very busy layout. When there's things flashing and going off with noise and all, it bugs me so I tend to stay away from that.
7. Any advice for other new bloggers?
Don't give up! And also just because you have no followers, doesn't mean that no one is reading so remember to write like you're one of the big blogs out there.
8. Anything else you’d like to share about your experience?
I've had a great time and I have no intention of quitting anytime soon.
9. Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your blog?
My blog is majorly YA based and I'm always looking for reccomendations so please feel free to drop me a comment on what I should read next!
I find that when my page views go down, I get discouraged but then I remember that I write reviews for myself too and the page views will always go back up again.

Hey everyone! I decided to do Book Blogger Hop again as I enjoyed doing it so much last week! So here it goes! Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy For Books made to help showcase your blog to other bloggers out there with the same interests!
"What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"
In my opinion, usually books are hyped about for a good reason. And at the moment, I can't even think of a single book that I have not enjoyed! Not a one that has been hyped about that I have read haveI not liked it. But if I were to not like a book that's been hyped about, when I reviewed it I would stress the fact that just because I didn't like it doesn't mean that someone else won't. And I would also try and explain why I didn't care for the book too.
So Follow my Blog Friday is a meme held by Parajunkee and it's where you answer the weekly question and then link yourself and you go and check out other blogs of your interest. Sounds fun hey?
What do you do besides reading / reviewing as a hobby??
Nothing really. I just love to read, read, read! But in the summer I will put a good book down to go swimming!

Title: Firelight

Publisher: Harper Teen
Release: September 7, 2010
Rating: 5/5
Pages: 323
Series: Firelight Series #1
Synopsis:
A hidden truth.
Mortal enemies.
Doomed love.
Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki—a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.
Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away—if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.
Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide.
Review:
When this book arrived, I was up to my eyeballs in my TBR pile, so naturally this book got swiftly bumped to the end of that pile. So eventually I got to it, and now I wish I had of read it way sooner!
The cover of this book is gorgeous as you can see above. The fire-y color of her hair to the slight dragon scale impression on her face. I also just adore the way her eyes are like a dragons with the slitted pupil but it still resembles a human eye in the blue color. I also love the font of the title and how swirly the gold lettering is. And how the dots on the 'i's look like fire as well. The whole cover came together extremely well with the fire theme.
The characters in this book are really great. They are really fun but can be serious at the same time. They also have many traits that I admire. For example, Jacinda was strong in her beliefs and she didn't change to meet other peoples expectations of her. She stayed true to herself and never wavered. Another example of character amazing traits was in Will. He went against his families traditions to save Jacinda even though he didn't even know her at that point. I think that Sophie just wrote amazing characters that one can really look up to.
The best part of this book was the writing and the storyline. The writing was phenomenal YA material. I never found the writing to be boring or the story to drag at all. The story was great but the ending was such a cliff- hanger. The rest of the story was just as good as the ending. The way the story was told was great and you didn't ever feel that you had missed part of the story or a key detail.
All in all, Firelight was a great read that I think everyone in the YA age group or even if you're not in the age group, should get a chance to read this book and if you get the chance, you just have to jump on it and read this book.
